Meet Our New Executive Director

Amanda León, Executive Director of Eastside Audubon Society.

Amanda León is joining Eastside Audubon as the Executive Director. Amanda brings decades of experience with non-profit and government organizations focusing on volunteer management, urban forestry restoration, open space conservation, and salmon recovery. As a Parks and Recreation Director with the City of Normandy Park she created community birding classes, coordinated community-based science salmon recovery programs, and designed multi-lingual and multi-cultural urban forest restoration and stormwater education programs.

Amanda attended Bryn Mawr College and University of Pennsylvania earning a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, Mimar Sinan Universitisi with a master’s degree in architecture, and received a certificate in arboretum studies from The Barnes Foundation.  

“I’ve been a naturalist since childhood, and was given the opportunity to study the natural world and design, and later to work to create programs that help others learn the wonder, joy, and passion for nature. I look forward to working with the volunteers to focus on conservation, membership, and public education programs.”

Amanda lives with her partner and his teenage sons and two dogs in Redmond. She volunteers her time as the Board President at the Highline Botanical Garden Foundation, SOCO Culture, and sits on the King County Conservation Futures Advisory Committee. She’s an avid knitter, sewist, and gardener. She enjoys travel, culture, and languages.
